Whoa, Is This Real?!
So I came across a website that’s so surreal, it made me question whether or not this was some sort of joke.
Where ever you go, there we are...
Rentafriend.com offers exactly what you would think from a site with this name. And honestly the premise has me pretty intrigued. It seems as if this is basically a site where people can literally pimp themselves out to lonely folks looking for a companion.
Looking through the profiles of the friends (and yes, I looked up my own area to see if anyone I know was subjecting themselves to this sad shit), it seems as if most of the friends are really old (near senior age) or very young (just out of high school) with some folks in their 20-30′s that look very undesirable even for hanging out as just friends. One thing I do find incredibly unnerving is the fact that many of these rentable friends offer prom date services, which I’d see as downright creepy (in fact, you shouldn’t even go to prom if you even entertain the thought of using this site’s service for the dance… And that’s just good life advice, kids).
